New Global Warming Awareness and Action Campaign

Today marked the beginning of the "We Campaign", one of the largest public advocacy efforts in history. Lead by former U.S. Vice President Al Gore and his Alliance for Climate Protection, the campaign objectives are to educate and organize Americans in a drive to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases. The $300 million, 3 year campaign will include advertising in the print and electronic media. The campaign hopes to enlist over 10 million volunteers in a drive to influence elected officials and public policy. If you are concerned about the world that our children will inherit, the very least that you can do is visit the We Campaign web site, and add your name to the list of supporters.

Whether or not our civilization survives Global Climate Change future generations will owe a tremendous debt to Vice President Gore, without whose leadership the situation would be, at a minimum, far worse.

Mr. Gore entered Congress in 1978 and almost immediately held the first of what would become many subsequent congressional hearings on Global Climate Change. In spite of relentless criticism, throughout his productive career Mr. Gore did not waiver in his attempts to bring Global Climate Change to the attention of the American public. His Academy Award winning movie, "An Inconvenient Truth", is notable for his ability to reduce the extraordinary complex science of Global Climate Change into a clear, readily understood presentation. Mr. Gore has donated his entire proceeds from the movie, and his best-selling book by the same name to the campaign, along with his share of the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize and his salary from venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caulfield & Byers.
