It’s Good the Pope Didn’t Directly Address Climate Change at Congress

On 23rd September the Pope addressed US Congress on several issues including poverty, weapons and immigration quoting his publication, Laudato Si. However, he did not directly talk about one of today's most pressing issues – climate change.

Once Again…

Tackling Our Fossil Fuel Addiction

24th February saw Obama veto the Keystone XL pipeline, however it seems as though the campaigners are aiming at a bigger issue. With the increasing urgency to fight climate change, it is possible that the campaign became a general protest demanding that all remaining fossil fuel reserves be left in the ground.

There is no shortage of alternative energy resources, so why can't we let go of fossil fuels?

Earth Day 2014

As a 17 year old student there are a variety of things that should concern me – my grades, my friends, my hobbies – but you may not think climate change would be on that list when I have never experienced a ‘normal’ year.

Who are the real ‘hooligans’ in the Arctic?

On the 18th September 2013, 28 Greenpeace activists and 2 journalists embarked on a protest against drilling for oil in the Arctic. Representing 18 nationalities, the Arctic 30 travelled to the Barents Sea to scale Russian oil giant Gazprom’s most recent drilling platform – a risky addition to their oil-thirsty industry.

President Obama Introduces A Climate Action Plan

In his February, 2013 State of the Union address President Obama challenged Congress to act on climate change, saying that "If Congress won’t act soon to protect future generations, I will".  Congress has failed to act and yesterday President Obama  delivered on his promise with an address to the students of Georgetown University that  was a forceful call for action on climate change.
